The Feral Slime
Average size: Wild, non-sentient Slimes vary in size depending on several facts that make giving an accurate average hard. Slimes can grow larger based on how recently they fed, how much they ate, how much fluid they've absorbed and so on, or get smaller if they're hungry or dehydrated. More often than not, they are around on foot high, with several inches of leeway both ways.
Habitat: Slimes are an extremely adaptive species. The typical Slime will inhabit any cool area with decent precipitation, and will often be found in plains, meadows and caves, especially if there are lakes or rivers nearby.
Diet: Slimes feed primarily on liquids such as water, but they can digest any material and use it to expand their biomass. Rarely, Slimes will devour wildlife that has been maimed or is too sick to flee. More rarely, Slimes will merge together but retain their initial form.
Disposition: Slimes aren't naturally predatory, at least not in the way carnivores are. Studies have found that Slimes are merely "attracted" to movement and their natural curiosity is to touch everything that interests them. This makes them a threat due to how acidic their bodies are.
Description: The most common form of Slime is a green, jelly-like creature with only two organs, the "Core" that is both heart and brain, and the "body," which composes the rest of the creature. This variant of Slimes have no face, and seems driven only by its need to grow its biomass by feeding.
Noteworthy Carves: As the Slime only has two parts, is extremely weak, and very common, it's not unsurprising that their remains hold little value. Slime Cores can be sold for a meager price, and the jelly of their body can be used as an antibacterial, though this is recommended only as a last resort as it will be very painful to any injury, but has the benefit of being able to be slathered over the wound to prevent further contamination or bleeding, as the jelly absorbs the blood without drawing it out.
